Sunkye HTHP Connectors with high performance of durability, provide high reliability in the complicate deep-sea environment.
Offshore oil drilling refers to the process of extracting fossil fuels from the ocean or seabed's crust. As oceans cover nearly 75% of the earth's surface, a significant amount of oil and natural gas reserves are underwater. Though the ocean bed is rich in oil wells, locating offshore oil reserves and installing oil rigs on the water surface can be a challenging task, making offshore drilling an expensive process.
Deep-sea waters have freezing temperatures and high pressure that can crack iron castings and are subject to rough, deep-sea currents. Due to the complex environment, offshore drilling is potentially dangerous and requires sophisticated equipment that can withstand the pressure while preventing boiling oil from cooling to a solid state and rupturing pipes when it emerges into the chilly ocean environment.
Generally, deep-sea drilling involves temperatures greater than 150°C, bottom pore pressure greater than 68.9 Mpa (10000psi), and drilling equipment selection pressure greater than 15000psi (103.4MPa). Downhole tools and instruments must consider the impact of high-temperature and high-pressure environments. The selection of electronic components must be based on specific geological conditions and the ability to withstand downhole temperature and pressure. Reliability evaluation is crucial to reduce complications.
Sunkye specializes in customized connectors, including subsea connectors. For example, high-temperature and high-pressure glass-sealed connectors and glass-sealed penetrators provide sealed interconnect solutions for downhole applications such as logging while drilling (LWD) and measurement while drilling (MWD). In extreme environments, these connectors provide stability in electrical performance with temperatures approaching 200°C while experiencing elevated shock and vibration, downhole fluids, and a confined environment.
